Your Health is Your True Wealth
A little more than 10 years ago we were at our heaviest weight ever, yet we ate healthy food and pretended to have an active lifestyle. Cholesterol levels were climbing and the risk of diabetes was very high. From our perspective we were just enduring the aging process, and dealing with the uncomfortable realities of growing older.
Six months later we had completely turned our lives around. Our perspectives had changed, so we were making different choices – better choices that lead to a thrilling enhancement of our wellness, energy, and hopefully longevity.
”The first wealth is health” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
We attended a seminar given by a highly qualified medical practitioner. He trained initially as an aneathetist and later as a physician. While working as an aneathetist he often listened to people during the pre-op consultation prior to a major op saying that they would give all their money to be rid of the pain and stress of poor health. The sad thing is that most of these patients could have avoided poor health and the need for an op by taking care of what they put into their mouths. He used to tell his patients when he was later consulting as a physician that they were “digging their graves with their mouth” and they needed to change what they were eating!
“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change!” – Wayne Dyer
It’s all about having the courage to change. Start by critically analysing where you are compared to where you’d like to be. It’s the first step in changing your perspective. You will start to see things differently and seek out help to get to the place you’d like to be.
You can have the all money in the world, but if your health is compromised then all the money becomes worthless. There can be no enjoyment in having hearth by-pass op/ being on medication for high blood pressure or diabetes, especially when it could have been avoided by eating healthily! Even worse, is if you spend your what little of your hard-earned money you have left after deductions on unhealthy food and drink you end up with poor health and no money! You may even have to depend on public health facilities with their long queues and poor service.
Don’t leave your health to chance – just like you wouldn’t leave your hard-earned money lying around, avoid eating for convenience! Be critical of what you eat, seek out good advice from trusted sources.
